One of my closet staples over the past few years has been black skinny jeans. They are my go-to item when I'm not sure what to wear. It's easy to dress them up with a crisp white button down and boots or wear them casually with a sweater and flats. I have continually purchased {and loved} the BDG High Rise Skinny Jeans from Urban Outfitters. I think they have great fit and are easily dressed up or down and the shape holds up well over repeated washings. However, it is disappointing how fast the color fades even when washing them inside out. This major flaw has lead me to start considering branching out into other pairs of jeans.
A while ago, I remember reading a post on Elaine's blog about her JBrand jeans. With her being a fairly savvy shopper I was impressed that she spent the whopping $160+ on a pair of jeans. She claimed that they never lost their color even after one year of wear. I think it would be worth it to spend that much on a pair of black jeans if they truly do hold their color. I usually purchase about 3 pairs of the BDG jeans a year due to fading and that roughly equals the price of the JBrands.
I've also been intrigued by the American Apparel and American Eagle versions of black skinny jeans as well. I haven't heard as much about these jeans as I have the JBrands, but they are much more affordable compared to the steep price of the JB jeans. I have, however, always favored quality over quantity and am willing to "splurge" on a good item that is a closet staple. Have any of you tried these jeans before? If so let me know in the comments!

i second the quality of j brand jeans. most of my jeans are j brand because i love the fit and how long they've lasted me. totally worth the money, especially if you'd wear them with everything. they go on sale here and there, so definitely stock up on them when the next sale season comes up.
